Late Summer Family Portrait Session, Dominion Arboretum, Ottawa
A Season of Change
The end of summer also marks the beginning of new adventures. Some parents see their wee ones off to kindergarten while others see their now adult children off to college or university. Whether your child is taking the bus for the first time or settling into their first "home away from home", it's a milestone that will forever be etched in your mind, and your heart.
All Grown Up
I have a hard time imagining my children as "all grown up". While chatting with this mother and sharing some embarrassing childhood stories about our boys - while her "little boy" stood beside us, not quite as amused as we were - I noticed that she spoke as though those memories were from a time not too long ago despite her son now being in his twenties. I've often heard people say that "the time is long but the years are short" and I'm starting to believe them.
If Not Now, When?
I have noticed a photo trend among families. When they have children, portrait sessions become a fairly common occurrence over the course of those first few years. Slowly, the need to document their quickly growing and changing family becomes less urgent and those sessions get put off until "next year"... and then "next year". I've had several clients contact me because they realized it's been three, five, or even 10 years since their last professional family portrait session. Every age and stage has its unique experience to document and treasure.
Not every family photo session needs to be a huge investment or displayed throughout the walls of your home; we also offer stunning albums that make great keepsakes and conversation starters at holiday dinner parties. Check out our Look Book - accessible on our investment page - to see what products would suit your family's needs, style and decor.
With everyone starting their new adventures and this being one of the last times the family would all be together for quite a while, it was a great time for a family portrait session with Michelle Ma Belle Photography. Everyone needed some new family photos to display at the office, in the house, and in the new "homes away from home". I'm so excited for their beautiful new gallery-wrap canvas to be delivered, displayed and enjoyed for many years to come.
